Zazenkai

Zazenkai literally means a sitting meditation meeting. It is run as either a half day (7.00 AM - 12.00 PM) or full day (7.00 AM - 4.00 PM) of practice conducted at our North Sydney centre on the last Sunday of each month with the exception of the two months when a sesshin is conducted. See Schedule for dates.

Zazenkai is conducted in silence with no eye contact or social greetings. It is a period for deepening practice by participating in more prolonged meditation. It is also a stepping stone towards gradually becoming involved in longer residential meditation intensives.

Meditation cushions are provided. For those unable to sit cross-legged on the floor it is okay to use a chair or a meditation bench for kneeling.

A dharma talk is given by the teacher and daisan (personal interview with the teacher) is also available.

In the event of a participant needing to leave zazenkai for whatever reason, he/she should speak to the teacher or one of the leaders before leaving.

Applications for the next zazenkai can be made online on this site under Registration.
